About the project
- This project involved the end-to-end design and planning of a cross-platform diet and fitness tracking application for FitFusion Inc., aimed at integrating fitness and nutrition monitoring in real-time. The app targeted mobile and smartwatch users and offered synchronized data tracking, personalized dashboards, and AI-driven recommendations. Designed with scalability and UX in mind, the project included technical planning, team structuring, risk evaluation, and performance milestones.
The Problem
- Despite the proliferation of health apps, very few offer a holistic platform that combines real-time diet logging, fitness activity tracking, wearable integration, and personalized progress dashboards in one seamless experience. Users were frustrated by having to use multiple apps for calorie tracking, workouts, and wearable sync. This fragmentation negatively impacted user engagement, data continuity, and long-term habit-building.
Results
- Agile methodology was followed, with clear sprint cycles and defined milestones across design, development, and testing phases.
- Project Planning Tools: Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Gantt Charts, and PERT charts were used to visualize timeline dependencies and resource allocation.
- Collaboration & Task Roles: Defined via a RACI matrix, ensuring role clarity across business analysts, developers, and UX designers.
- Technical Stack:
- Front-end: React Native for cross-platform mobile compatibility
- Back-end: AWS (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB) for scalability and data syncing
- Database: Firebase for real-time storage and user authentication
- Integration: Smartwatch compatibility (Apple HealthKit, Google Fit)
- Risk Mitigation: Conducted FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), identifying 5 critical risks with highest RPN values (e.g., backend server load, API dependency, user data accuracy).
- Outcome: A fully scoped app architecture with integrated task flows, scalability plan, and a proposed rollout strategy—with projected high ROI due to modular development and platform versatility.
